Netflix's critically-acclaimed thriller Black Doves is set to return for a second series, following the titular spies-for-hire organisation. Commissioned for a second run before it had even aired in 2024, the show was warmly received by critics and earned Keira Knightley a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a TV Drama.

Season 2 will follow Helen's husband Wallace (Andrew Buchan) as he prepares to take on the perilous role of Prime Minister. Once more, Helen reunites with her closest friend, Sam, with Netflix's official synopsis revealing: "As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponised, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything."
The programme's creator, Joe Barton, said: "I couldn't be more excited to delve back into the world of our murderous little spy family. To have so many [members] of our amazing cast returning and also being able to add some of my absolute favourite actors into the mix is such a great joy. Downing Street will never be the same."
New Cast Members
While familiar faces from the show are making their comeback, several fresh additions have joined the cast. One Day star Ambika Mod plays Laila, an "acerbic and anarchic Black Doves agent sent to help Helen on a mission". Control actor Sam Riley portrays Patrick, an emissary from a secretive organisation offering Sam a potential way out. Alien: Earth's Babou Ceesay takes on the role of Mr Conteh, a Black Doves executive harbouring hidden agendas. See actress Sylvia Hoeks features as Katia Chernov, alongside The Lincoln Lawyer's Neve Campbell as Cecile Mason. Completing the line-up are Ant-Man and the Wasp actor Goran Kostic as Alexi Chernov and Not Safe for Work actor Samuel Barnett as Jerry.
Release Date
At the time of writing, no official release date has been confirmed, though Good Housekeeping reported it is expected to land before the end of 2026. Production on Season 2 got under way in London around November 2025, with filming scheduled to conclude following a 20-week shoot in mid-February 2026.
