'High Stakes' BBC Thriller 'The Rapture' Gets First-Look Trailer
BBC's 'The Rapture' Thriller Debuts Gripping Trailer

The BBC has released the first trailer for an upcoming psychological thriller, The Rapture, filmed in Wales and starring Ruth Madeley, India Amarteifio, and Gavin and Stacey's Ruth Jones. The series is adapted from Liz Jensen's bestselling novel about a teenager accused of murdering her mother, who claims she can foresee disasters.

Trailer and Plot Details

The short trailer introduces Ruth Madeley as forensic psychologist Gabs Fox, working at a maximum security psychiatric facility where she meets 17-year-old Bethany, played by India Amarteifio. A warning is issued that the youngster is "very dangerous," though Bethany asserts: "We are all here to find the truth."

A synopsis from the BBC teases: "Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent. She is estranged from her father Leonard (played by Sam Hazeldine), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religious movement. Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future - but what will it take for Gabs to believe her? And if Bethany didn't kill her mother, then who did?"
