Shetland Star Ashley Jensen on Leaving LA for Son's Stability

Ashley Jensen, known for her role in the BBC crime drama Shetland, has revealed she left her glamorous Los Angeles lifestyle to provide stability for her son in the UK. The 56-year-old Scottish actress spent six years in Hollywood, mingling with stars like Kate Winslet, Samuel L Jackson, and Daniel Radcliffe, before relocating to Somerset.

Speaking to The Times, Jensen said: 'I moved here to give Frankie as much space and stability as possible during his school years. It's been a great decision.' She is married to Vera actor Kenny Doughty and has a teenage son, Frankie, from her first marriage to actor Terrence Beesley, who died in 2017.

Jensen, who also starred in Ugly Betty, described her home in Somerset as her most emotionally connected. She humorously referred to herself as a 'clean freak' and lamented about the constant laundry in her son's room. 'Many times I've collected piles of dirty washing... I don't know where it all comes from,' she said.
