Art Quarter Summer Market Returns to Liverpool Metquarter with New Weekend Format
Art Quarter Market Returns with New Weekend Format

The Art Quarter Summer Marketplace is set to return to Liverpool city centre on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27, taking place on the ground floor of the Metquarter from 11am to 5pm. The event will showcase handmade goods, artisan treats, and independent brands from 29 local Liverpool makers, transforming the venue into a vibrant shopping destination. Admission is free.

New Weekend Format Expands Opportunities

For the first time, the market is moving to a Friday and Saturday format, a change that organisers say will give stallholders more opportunity to showcase their work across a busy weekend in Liverpool. Previously held on single days, the extended schedule aims to attract more visitors and provide greater exposure for artisans.

Diverse Range of Local Artisans

Shoppers can explore a curated selection of offerings including handcrafted jewellery, artwork, summer gifts, and live entertainment from local artist Lucy Sings. Among the stalls is The Felt Factory, run by Liverpool-based independent maker Gill, who creates handcrafted whimsical felt figures and decorations. Le Vechi Sweets, a Liverpool-based bakery specialising in authentic Brazilian treats and handmade sweets, will appear at the market for the first time, offering traditional Brazilian bakes and confectionery. The Alt Creative returns with handcrafted entomology frames, and Liverpool-based Joyfulso2c will showcase a range of handcrafted crochet items including key chains, toys, and accessories.

Organised by Local Artists

The event is run by local artists Freida McKitrick and Clare Ellis, who first met in 2012 at the '2D At Market' held at the Bluecoat. Freida and Clare said: "Liverpool's creative scene is something truly special, and these markets are our way of being part of it. We've always believed that great work deserves to be seen, and that's what drives us. The Friday is an exciting new step for us and we'd love for people to come down on both days, meet the makers and find something they love. We can't wait to see everyone there."

The Metquarter Shopping Centre is located at 35 Whitechapel, Liverpool, L1 6DA.
