Amber Davies, the former Love Island winner turned West End star, has surprised fans with her singing abilities in a new social media video, while also addressing misconceptions about her career.
Amber's Unexpected Strictly Come Dancing Debut
The actress was drafted into the 2025 series of Strictly Come Dancing at the eleventh hour to replace an injured Dani Dyer, who fractured her ankle during training. Amber was partnered with professional dancer Nikita, and the pair performed live just hours later. They went on to reach the final on December 20, eventually losing to footballer Karen Carney and Carlos Gu.
Return to the Stage in Legally Blonde
Since Strictly, Amber has returned to the stage as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde the Musical tour, which began in February. In a recent Instagram clip, she sings a snippet of the title track, captioned: "How’s this for a personal essay?!! #LegallyBlonde #TheatreKid."
Fans reacted with surprise and praise. @poppypearson wrote: "Since when did you sing?? Wowza." @jessrowlwithit commented: "Crazy I first learned of Amber on Love Island, rooted for her cuz she was a musical girlie, and now here she is all these years later still killing it!!"
Addressing Misconceptions
In another clip, Amber spoke to presenter Conor Finn about misconceptions she has faced. She said: "When I came out of Love Island, and I was about to do my West End debut, there was a misconception that I wasn't good enough, because of Love Island. I think they didn't know I'd trained in musical theatre."
She added: "Then, when I was on Strictly, I had this narrative that I was overqualified. So, the two different sides of the coin. But, you know, one far away from the other, but you know what? I love them both, because, like Elle, I hopefully prove people wrong."
Amber concluded: "I just always think, work hard. That's all you can do. Just work hard, be a kind person, and the rest is noise."
