Amber Davies, the Love Island winner turned West End star, revealed she had an audience member removed from a performance of Legally Blonde after the woman spent most of the first act filming the show on her phone. The incident occurred on Saturday night at Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, where Davies stars as Elle Woods in the touring production.
Social Media Outburst During Interval
Davies shared her frustration in an Instagram video recorded during the interval. She said: "This is your daily reminder not to film at the theatre. Unfortunately tonight at the Bord Gáis we've got a beautiful audience, but there's just one woman in the front row who has been filming the entirety of Act One. It's had us all distracted."
The actress added that the selfish actions had "ruined the morale of our wonderful eighth show on a Saturday night." She confirmed she had asked theatre staff to intervene before the second half began, saying: "Hopefully she's not back for Act Two. I've asked, can she go so we can just enjoy ourselves."
Warning to Theatre-Goers
Davies urged audiences to respect rules against recording, noting that multiple people had been filming in Ireland that week. She warned: "I'm the type of person, I will count how many seats away you are from what door and you will be told and asked to leave. So yeah guys, don't film. Let's just enjoy the two and a half hours together, we don't need to film everything."
Recording performances and using flash photography are prohibited at most theatres, as they distract performers and breach copyright rules.
Davies' Rise to Fame
Amber Davies won Love Island in 2017 alongside Kem Cetinay and has since built a successful career in musical theatre, starring in productions such as 9 to 5: The Musical, Back to the Future, and Legally Blonde. She also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2025, stepping in as a last-minute replacement for an injured Dani Dyer. Partnered with Nikita Kuzmin, she impressed judges and viewers, finishing as joint runner-up behind Karen Carney and her partner Carlos Gu.
