Alex Jones has announced that The One Show is being temporarily removed from the BBC schedule for its summer hiatus. The presenter, alongside co-host Roman Kemp, confirmed the news during Thursday's broadcast on June 25.
Final Episode Before Break
After appearances from guests Ben Fogle, Kate Humble, and Martin Clunes, Jones delivered the announcement just before the show concluded. She confirmed that Friday's installment would be the last for several weeks. Roman Kemp said: "That's all we've got time for tonight, a big thank you to all of our guests." Alex continued: "Tomorrow I'll be back with JB for the final One Show before our summer break. We'll be joined by Alexander Armstrong and Annabel Croft, plus Gavin and Stacey stars Joanna Page and Mathew Horne." Kemp concluded: "Have a great night." The One Show typically takes a break of approximately four weeks during late June and early July, according to the Mirror.
Martin Clunes Drops Expletive
Earlier in the Thursday episode, the show was thrown into chaos when Martin Clunes dropped a swear word live on air. The Doc Martin star was discussing the American adaptation of his ITV show, featuring Josh Charles in the lead role. After a preview clip aired, Clunes said: "He's completely done his own thing, much nicer than me, less awkward and abrasive... he's warm and better-looking." Reacting to a scene in the preview, he exclaimed: "I was just looking at that bit... they wouldn't let me call the dog the son of a b***h, which I thought was funny." The hosts and audience burst into laughter, prompting Roman Kemp to quickly apologise: "I have to apologise quickly." Alex Jones playfully scolded Clunes: "You've been on a hundred times!" The actor defended himself, turning to Ben Fogle and saying: "He's a vet... it's a female dog!" The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
