The Yorkshire Vet is making its much-anticipated return to Channel 5, with season 23 confirmed to air this Thursday, August 13, at 8pm. The new series kicks off with a special episode focusing on Peter Wright's dream.
Special Episode Features Peter Wright's Dream
The first episode of the new series will see Peter Wright, a beloved figure who worked at the iconic Skeldale Veterinary Centre for 40 years under the mentorship of James Herriot, discuss his vision. He hopes that "across the country, animal lovers could have wonderful places where they can forever remember the pets who have enriched their lives."
The official synopsis reveals: "Cameras follow him as he embarks on a passion project to make that dream come true. It takes him to Sussex to meet the country's first animal chaplain and her church's pet memorial garden, inspiring him to create something similar back in Yorkshire."
Regular Cast and Narration
Following the special opener, the series will continue to document the daily work of the vets in Yorkshire, including Julian Norton, Matt Smith, and Peter Wright. Britain's oldest farming couple, Mr and Mrs Green, will also appear in the first episode.
Actor Christopher Timothy, who played James Herriot in the original All Creatures Great and Small, will once again provide narration.
The exact number of episodes in season 23 has not been confirmed. For comparison, season 22 aired seven episodes earlier this year, while season 21 had 13.
