Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin curated the halftime show, assembling co-headliners Shakira, Burna Boy, Madonna, Justin Bieber, BTS, and Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel of the New York Philharmonic. Burna Boy co-wrote the tournament's anthem. The extended break doubles the traditional 15-minute interval.

FIFA stated: 'Echoing the spirit of the opening ceremonies, which welcomed the world to the greatest stage in Canada, Mexico and the United States, the closing ceremony will bring the FIFA World Cup 2026 full circle through music, culture and football, before we kick off the highly anticipated match that will crown the champions of this groundbreaking tournament.'

The final kicks off at 8pm UK time (7pm BST) on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium. The closing ceremony begins at 6.30pm UK time. Spain faces defending champions Argentina. England was eliminated by Argentina earlier in the tournament.
