Dan, known as the Welsh Hiker on TikTok, recently explored the abandoned Amman Valley Maternity Hospital in Glanamman, Carmarthenshire. He shared pictures of the haunting interior, which includes rusting hospital beds, metal baby cots, an old infant incubator and medical equipment still left where it was last used.
Details of the Discovery
The hospital opened on 16 December 1950 and served the local community for over 30 years before closing in 1984. Dan wrote: 'Recently I explored the abandoned Amman Valley Maternity Hospital in Glanamman, one of the eeriest places I’ve visited.' He described walking through abandoned wards and finding peeling paint, crumbling floors and decades of decay. Graffiti covers the walls, and chairs remain in the corridors. Warning: Some people may be offended by graffiti featured in this video.
This is not the first such find for Dan; he previously documented an abandoned coach site.
Reactions and Warnings
Several viewers reacted to the photos, with one commenting 'Great photos bud.' Dan replied: 'Thank you pal, nice little explore this one.' However, the article warns against entering abandoned properties. It can be illegal, highly dangerous and considered trespassing without owner permission. Risks include rotting floors, unstable staircases, caving roofs, airborne hazards like asbestos and mould, and injuries from broken nails and glass.
