Original Waterloo Road star Chelsee Healey is reprising her role as Janeece Bryant for the show's 20th anniversary, the BBC has confirmed. The announcement was made on Monday's episode of The One Show.
Janeece first appeared in the second episode of series one in 2006, quickly becoming a fan favourite for her blend of chaos, comedy and heart. She has returned several times over the years, including when the show relaunched in 2023.
Healey said in a statement: "I honestly feel like I'm coming home, stepping back into Waterloo Road as Janeece. She's still as fierce and funny as ever, but now she's Mummy Janeece."
The new series introduces Janeece's on-screen daughter, played by newcomer Lauren Hylton, along with several other new students and a wave of newly-qualified teachers. Executive producer Cameron Roach said the return reflects the show's spirit and humour, uniting generations of viewers.
