Virgin River actor Martin Henderson has issued another warning to fans about imposters using fake Instagram accounts to scam them. The New Zealand star, who plays Jack Sheridan in the Netflix series, said he was frustrated to have to repeatedly address the issue.
In a video posted to his official Instagram account, Henderson said: 'I feel like this is the only thing I post any more. It's not me. I'm not reaching out to anybody, I'm not asking for any money. I'm totally fine, I'm not in hospital.' He urged fans to only communicate with him via his verified account.
His co-star Alexandra Breckenridge was surprised by the ongoing scams, writing: 'I can't believe this is still happening.' One fan replied that they report several fake accounts a week, but the scammers keep coming.
In February 2025, a woman lost £275,000 in a romance scam involving someone pretending to be Henderson. She had been in daily contact with the scammer for two years and even moved to New Zealand to start a life with him.
The woman realised she had been scammed when a friend showed her a news article about the real Henderson taking part in a bike rally in New Zealand, while the scammer had claimed he was hospitalised in South Africa.
The scam began when she received a message on a Virgin River fan page from someone claiming to be the actor's agent. Despite Henderson's official warnings, the scammer told her those warnings were for other people.
