Vicky Pattison fought back tears as she opened up about her Strictly Come Dancing exit, admitting her 'heart broke' and that she didn't have a dance-off 'in her locker'. The former Geordie Shore star was eliminated alongside professional partner Kai Widdrington on Sunday night after losing the dance-off to EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon.
Appearing on Strictly spin-off It Takes Two on Wednesday, Pattison reflected on her journey. 'It's been an absolute joy from start to finish,' she said. However, she confessed that when it came to the dance-off, she knew it was a 'lose lose' for her. 'I don't have a dance-off in my locker,' she added, wiping away tears as a montage of her best moments played.
The pair had landed in the bottom two after their Jive to Sound of the Underground by Girls Aloud scored 27 out of 40 – tying with Sopal and Caillon, who ultimately survived their fourth dance-off. Pattison and Widdrington had impressed the week before with a Tango scoring 39 points, which Widdrington described as 'such a massive achievement' for a non-dancer.
Widdrington admitted the Jive was 'one of those dances that didn't land on us' and that they 'weren't expecting' to be in the dance-off. Pattison praised her partner for doing 'everything he could as a professional, as a partner and as a friend', but acknowledged the writing was on the wall.
Concluding the interview, Pattison shared the biggest lesson from her Strictly experience: 'If anybody puts their mind to something, once they get outside their comfort zone and work hard, amazing things can happen. I'm really grateful for this opportunity to prove to myself and everyone else that you're never too old to try something new.'
