Vicky Pattison has opened up about her Strictly Come Dancing exit, admitting she "will forever hate that p***k" – a reference to the Jive she performed before being voted off. The 38-year-old was the seventh celebrity to leave the show last month, losing the dance-off to EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal.
Speaking on the Staying Relevant podcast with friend Pete Wicks, a former Strictly contestant, Pattison said the Jive – which earned her 27 out of 40 points – was not her dance. "Listen, call a spade a spade, the Jive was not my f*****g dance, I will forever hate that p***k," she said.
After Pete revealed his professional partner stopped him attempting the Jive, Pattison joked she wished her partner Kai Widdrington had done the same. "Maybe he just had a bit more faith in us," she added. "I am actually quite a bouncy person, so I think people would assume I really had the Jive in me like that, but I don't think anyone anticipated me as being like a dignified ballroom girl, but I really took to ballroom and loved it."
Pattison admitted she cried for a week after her exit and received support from fellow Strictly alumni including Sara Davies, Ellie Taylor and Tom Fletcher. However, she said she would not follow the example of a former contestant who was "sad for a year". "No I’m sorry, I’m not going to be sad for a year," she said. "I went on Strictly and had never danced sober, and I gave it everything I could. I’m not going to be sad about trying my best."
Despite her early exit, Pattison has been announced as one of the celebrities performing on the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing tour. Meanwhile, four couples remain in the running for the Glitterball trophy: Karen Carney and Carlos Gu, George Clarke and Alexis Warr, Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon, and Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin.
