The BBC has confirmed that the Saturday 9pm slot previously occupied by Two Weeks In August will now feature BBC News at 9:15pm followed by MOTD Live: FIFA World Cup 2026 at 9:30pm, starting from Saturday, 4 July 2026.
Series Conclusion and Critical Acclaim
The thriller series, created by Catherine Shepherd, concluded its eight-episode run on BBC One on Saturday, 27 June 2026. All episodes remain available on BBC iPlayer. The show received an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
One viewer praised the cast: "An incredible series. There isn't a single actor in this show who failed to fully embody their role. Every actor—without exception—became the character they were portraying."
Plot and Final Episode
The series follows a group of friends reuniting for a summer getaway on a Greek island, which descends into chaos after a forbidden kiss and being stranded. In the finale, a catastrophic wildfire forces the characters, including Zoe played by Jessica Raine, to decide what lives they truly desire while fleeing the inferno.
Audience Reactions
Another viewer commented: "I started watching this thinking it would be one of those light entertaining series... Instead I ended up completely hooked. It contains characters who go through real dramas and dilemmas." A third added: "This was refreshingly different—I loved the Greek myth supernatural strand bringing a universal lens to the relationships."
Two Weeks In August is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
