Jenny Han, the creator of The Summer I Turned Pretty, has dismissed speculation that the series finale would consist of multiple episodes. The author took to Instagram hours before the final instalment to confirm that only one episode remains.
Fans had theorised that the Prime Video drama would conclude with two extended episodes or even four additional instalments, following the penultimate episode. However, Han subtly debunked the theory by thanking the Los Angeles Times for a recent interview and adding, 'Just one more episode to go.'
In the same interview, Han addressed criticism of Jeremiah Fisher, who has faced backlash for cheating on Belly in the third season. She argued that fans have been 'really hard' on the character, describing his story as 'heart-breaking' and explaining that he believed his actions would create an 'irrevocable break' from Belly.
The series finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty streams on Prime Video this Wednesday, 17 September.
