BBC Trying season five has finally arrived, bringing with it a beloved Bridget Jones star. The comedy-drama series, co-produced by Apple TV, returns after a two-year hiatus with fresh episodes now streaming.
New Cast Addition: Celia Imrie
Acclaimed actress Celia Imrie joins the cast as Harriet, described as an 'upper-class hoarder'. Imrie is widely known for her roles in Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club, the Bridget Jones films, Calendar Girls, and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. In Trying season five, Jason (Rafe Spall) encounters Harriet while preparing for a new career direction.
Returning Characters and Plot
The fifth season picks up after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger in series four, which saw the return of Princess (Scarlett Rayner) and Tyler's (Cooper Turner) biological mother, Kat (Charlotte Riley). The family must now adapt to their changed circumstances as Kat attempts to establish herself in their lives.
Jason Ross, played by Rafe Spall, faces domestic pressures and the demands of retraining for a fresh career. Spall is known for roles in Under the Salt Marsh, Black Mirror, The Ritual, and ITV's Secret Service.
Nikki Newman, portrayed by Esther Smith, navigates considerable upheaval as her children's biological mother re-enters their lives. Smith previously played Rachel in the Greg Davies sitcom Cuckoo, alongside roles in Uncle and Ballot Monkeys.
