Trigger Point series four is set to land on ITV this weekend, with the stars of the show teasing "huge" storylines.
On Thursday (August 27), actors Eric Shango and Julie Graham appeared on ITV's This Morning to share news of the upcoming series. Talking to presenters Josie Gibson and Rylan Clark, the pair shared their excitement and confirmed that series four is not one to be missed.
Stars promise 'unprecedented' season
Julie, who is known for her roles in The Hardacres and Shetland, said: "There's a huge, huge, huge storyline throughout this series which is incredibly tense."
Eric added: "It's nothing like British shows you've ever seen before! It's completely unprecedented. This is must-see TV. I think it's the best show on TV, I can take that to the bank!"
New character and returning favourites
Actress Julie joins the new season as a brand new character playing the role of Nia Quentin, the highly capable and formidable head of the counter-terrorism unit. Meanwhile, Eric reprises his role as Danny.
Protagonist Vicky McClure is also back on the scene playing the role of Lana Washington. Sharing insight into Lana's development, Eric stated that fans should expect a "big leap" for Lana.
Bomb attacks and personal battles
Series four opens with London rocked by a string of bomb attacks, sending Lana and her team into a race against time to identify those responsible before they can strike again. As the investigation intensifies, Lana is also battling to overcome her dependence on painkillers, while tensions within the team grow as long-held secrets start to surface.
Talking about the new series, executive producer Jed Mercurio told the Royal Television Society: "This is the most dangerous bomb threat that the team has faced. We raised the stakes as high as we possibly could."
"We also made a conscious decision at the start of series three to give ourselves a bigger canvas and use the characters around Lana much more.
"We're incredibly fortunate that we have a great ensemble – everybody is lovely and very talented, so we have spent time carving out those characters and opening a door on their personal lives, which has been a very exciting part of the process."
"We'll delve more into the lives of the team, and their personal relationships this series."
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1. Trigger Point season 4 comes out on Sunday, 30 August 2026 at 9:00 pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
