The Traitors returned for its fourth season on BBC One, but the new series has already sparked controversy among viewers due to a major format shake-up. Host Claudia Winkleman introduced a 'Secret Traitor' twist, leaving fans split on social media.
In the opening episode, Winkleman revealed that alongside the usual Traitors, she would also appoint a Secret Traitor whose identity would remain hidden from everyone, including the other Traitors. 'Nobody will know who that is, not the Traitors and not even you,' she explained, holding up a red cloak.
However, the twist did not sit well with some viewers. One fan wrote on social media: 'Tbh the Secret Traitor thing is gonna get old real fast.' Another complained: 'Hate the Secret Traitor twist. Might be proved wrong but it spoils something for the viewer imo.'
