Tom Allen Exits The Apprentice's You're Fired! After Six Years
Tom Allen leaves The Apprentice's You're Fired! show

Fans of The Apprentice have been left disappointed after the popular host of its companion show announced his departure from the franchise.

An Emotional Farewell After Six Years

Comedian and presenter Tom Allen, 42, revealed on social media that he is stepping down from his role hosting BBC Two's You're Fired! after six years. Allen joined the spin-off series in 2019, where he interviewed fired candidates, celebrity guests, and experts following each episode of the main BBC One show.

Sharing a nostalgic video clip from his energetic 2019 debut, which featured a dance routine, Allen penned an emotional tribute. He wrote: 'I have decided, after six years, to say goodbye to The Apprentice: You’re Fired.'

He thanked the creative team and joked about his lack of business acumen, adding: '(I was also getting concerned Lord Sugar might realise I know nothing about business)'. Allen also expressed gratitude to Lord Sugar, Karren Brady, and Tim Campbell for their support, as well as every candidate and guest panellist.

Signing off, he teased: 'Exciting things are coming up for the show, and as for me, I shall be embarking on new voyages very soon…'

Co-Stars and Fans React to the News

The announcement prompted warm farewells from his former colleagues on the show. Lord Sugar, 78, commented: 'A pleasure to have worked with you over the last five series Tom, I didn't realise how funny you were.'

Trusted aide Tim Campbell, 48, said Allen would be 'genuinely missed' for bringing 'warmth, wit and wicked whistles'. Advisor Karren Brady, 56, thanked him for 'gracing us with your brilliance'. The official Apprentice Instagram page also paid tribute to his 'wickedly warm wit'.

In the comments, many fans immediately began speculating about Allen's next move. A popular theory suggests he could be in line to replace Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly as a host on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Multiple supporters posted messages like 'Tom to be Strictly presenter' and 'The show needs you'.

A New Era for The Apprentice Spin-Off

The departure coincides with a major revamp for The Apprentice's companion programming. BBC Two has confirmed that You're Fired! is being replaced by a new show titled The Apprentice: Unfinished Business.

It will be hosted by Angela Scanlon, who recently took part in the celebrity edition of The Apprentice. The new format promises weekly analysis, behind-the-scenes secrets, and interviews with the fired candidates.

Scanlon said: 'To be part of The Apprentice as it heads into its 20th year is an absolute treat.' Kalpna Patel-Knight, BBC Head of Entertainment Commissioning, said the show would offer 'more in-depth analysis than ever'.

For the first time, the companion content will also be available as a podcast on BBC Sounds. The Apprentice: Unfinished Business is scheduled to premiere on BBC Two on January 29.
