Ben Shephard was left speechless on a recent episode of ITV's Tipping Point as winning contestant Claudia detailed her surprising plans for the £10,000 jackpot.
Claudia, who competed against Alison and Anssi, secured her place in the final round and managed to tip the coveted jackpot token over the counter despite struggling with several questions. When Ben asked how she felt, she replied: "I can't believe it...amazing, it feels great."
Asked what she intended to do with the winnings, Claudia said: "Definitely a trip to America and Nathan will kill me for saying but I am going to put some towards a wedding." Before Ben could respond, she held up her left hand and added: "But I am not engaged."
A stunned Ben replied: "Wow. So is that you proposing to Nathan?" Claudia explained: "It's giving him a big prod," prompting Ben to remark: "Oh, so he's still got to do that bit? You've been told, Nathan."
The exchange comes after viewers have repeatedly claimed the Tipping Point machine is rigged. Ben previously addressed the controversy, describing the device as a "complicated system" run by the gallery. He explained that a person sits behind the machine to ensure the hydraulics operate at the right pace and that the hoppers feeding the counter remain full.
