Viewers of Saturday Night Takeaway were taken aback on Saturday night as it was revealed that Good Morning Britain (GMB) had fallen victim to a prank by Stephen Mulhern. The revelation came after earlier chaos on ITV daytime shows including Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women, which many had assumed were part of Ant and Dec's I'm A Celebrity... Get Out of Me Ear! segment.
During the broadcast, it emerged that Stephen Mulhern had been behind the scenes, challenging hosts to read out specific phrases live on air as part of his On Air Dares prank. GMB presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard were among those targeted, despite Ben warning that Stephen's antics were not typical for breakfast television.
Ben and Susanna complied with some dares, including Ben dropping the phrase 'oh no girlfriend' while discussing Line of Duty and later saying he did not want any 'Susanna bananas' in another link. However, they declined to follow Stephen's instruction to 'pretend someone has farted.'
Social media users expressed surprise at missing the prank. One tweeted their disbelief that Stephen had managed to invade ITV daytime television, while another commented on how Ben's behaviour on GMB now made sense. A third admitted they had not noticed anything unusual during the Monday broadcast.
