The fourth season of Netflix's fantasy series The Witcher has been filmed at several stunning UK locations, including sites in Surrey, Wales, Devon and Gloucestershire. Fans can visit many of the real-world places used to represent the fictional Continent.
According to fan site Redanian Intelligence, one key location is Painshill Park in Cobham, Surrey. This 18th-century garden features a crystal grotto, gothic tower and vineyard. The show is expected to make significant use of the grotto, described as 'magical' on the park's website, though its role in the plot remains unclear.
In Wales, Liam Hemsworth—who takes over the role of Geralt from season four—was seen filming at Llanberis Lake, the nearby quarry, and Dolbadarn Castle. Artificial boulders were added to the Gwynedd village, and a 'fake' forest was constructed at Y Glyn using conifers. A lakeside footpath was closed for up to a month during filming.
Devon's Haytor Quarry and Haytor Rocks were also used for panoramic landscapes. Additionally, Puzzlewood in Gloucestershire—a forest that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien and served as a filming location for Harry Potter and Star Wars—will feature in woodland scenes.
Season four follows Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri as they are separated by war and encounter new allies. The production chose to use real locations rather than heavy CGI to bring the Continent to life.
