BBC's hit game show Michael McIntyre's The Wheel returned with a new episode, featuring celebrities including Stacey Dooley, Maisie Adam, Oti Mabuse, Asim Chaudhry, Ricky Wilson, Omid Djalili, and Joey Essex. Contestant Abbie made it to the cash-out round and chose to team up with Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson.
The pair successfully answered a question about UK bridges, correctly guessing the Forth Bridge as the longest. Abbie and Ricky were overcome with emotion, sharing a heartwarming embrace as fans flooded social media with support. One viewer wrote: 'Well done Abbie, glad she got the money and Well Done Ricky.' Another added: 'Huge congrats Abbie on winning £41,000 in tonight’s #TheWheel.'
Through tears, Abbie explained what the prize meant to her: 'Oh my God, I can have a long maternity when I fall pregnant. I can send my parents on holiday, and I can help grant some incredible wishes, so that's honestly just amazing. Thank you so much.' She had earlier expressed hopes to start a family with her husband, contribute to her parents' holiday, and donate to Make-a-Wish UK.
Ricky Wilson was also moved to tears, struggling to find words as he told Abbie: 'I'm so pleased for you.' Host Michael McIntyre praised Ricky, saying: 'An incredible night from you, you absolutely stormed through.' Abbie continued to share her excitement for her parents, saying: 'They can go on holiday, they can have a great time, that's amazing, thank you.'
