The Voice UK will not air tonight (Saturday, September 26) as ITV reshuffles its Saturday night schedule to make room for the UEFA Nations League match between England and Spain.
The fourteenth series of the singing competition is currently airing, but the latest Blind Auditions episode has been pulled from the broadcaster's lineup. Instead, ITV will show the England vs Spain Nations League fixture, with Harry Kane and his teammates beginning their campaign against the World Cup winners.
Fans face a longer wait for Blind Auditions
The Voice UK typically airs on Saturday nights, but viewers will have to wait an extra week to see which hopefuls make Sir Tom Jones, Kelly Rowland, will.i.am, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher turn their famous red chairs.
The show returned to screens last month with brand-new coach Kelly Rowland and a fresh feature that could shake things up. It was previously announced that the Destiny's Child singer would replace pop star LeAnn Rimes as coach on the programme.
At the time, former X Factor judge Kelly said she "can't wait to hear all the new talent and to go to battle for my team. Let's go!" and she has been a hit with fans since making her debut.
New Rewind button introduced
The latest series includes a major change designed to help coaches who may be a little too slow pressing the button during the blind auditions. The Rewind button gives each coach a chance to change their mind about a contestant who has left the stage without a chair turn. The coach can then press the button and invite the act back to join their team.
Fans were left disappointed during the first episode of the new series as the coaches did not perform together as they usually do. The Voice UK traditionally opens a new season with a special performance featuring all the celebrity coaches singing together, but that did not happen this year as they went straight into the blind auditions.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to complain at the time, one viewer @FleuritoFaveees said: "Did they not film a coaches performance this year or what #TheVoiceUK." Another wrote: "They got Kelly Rowland on the panel and for the first time in 15 years DIDN’T open the series with a coaches performance?! Fire the producers #TheVoiceUK." Someone else posted: "No coach performance?!? wtf #TheVoiceUK."
Changes confirmed for series fifteen
It has been confirmed that host Emma Willis will not return for series fifteen next year, with Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon taking over presenting duties. Sir Tom, Tom and Danny also will not be returning as coaches, with rapper Aitch and Girls Aloud legend Cheryl joining the panel alongside will.i.am and Kelly.
The decision not to bring back Sir Tom has faced criticism from viewers, with some fans demanding that ITV brings back the Welsh singer. The Voice UK returns to ITV1 and ITVX on Saturday, October 3 at 8.50pm.
