Crime drama fans have just one month left to binge the 'gripping' and 'vicious' Scottish series The Victim on STV Player. The four-part legal thriller, set in Edinburgh's High Court, will be pulled from the streaming site on September 9, 2026.

The series, created by STV Productions and originally aired on BBC, tells the story of a heartbreaking decades-old murder case through the eyes of both the plaintiff and accused. Critics have described it as a "gripping, vicious thriller."
The show centres on the death of nine-year-old Liam Graham, murdered by 14-year-old Eddie J Turner over a decade prior. Eddie was granted lifelong anonymity by the courts after serving his seven-year prison sentence.
Plot and Cast
In present day, bus driver Craig Myers, played by James Harkness, is viciously attacked after his personal details are shared online claiming he is actually Eddie. Meanwhile, Kelly Macdonald plays Anna Dean, Liam's mother, who arrives at Edinburgh's High Court accused of revealing Eddie's new identity and conspiring to have him murdered.
The official synopsis reads: "The Victim follows the progress of a trial in Edinburgh’s High Court, while covering the events leading up to the legal proceedings, and the criminal investigation led by DI Steven Grover (John Hannah) - who has his own reasons for wanting to crack the case."
Critical Acclaim
The 2019 series has received rave reviews, scoring a 7.6 star IMDB rating. The Guardian gave it a four-star rating, praising Kelly Macdonald's "brilliant" performance and warning viewers they would be "hooked."
