Hulu has officially renewed The Testaments for a second season, the streaming service confirmed. The sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, created by Bruce Miller, has seen steady audience growth since its debut in April.
The renewal comes eight episodes into its ten-episode first season, with viewership increasing week-on-week. The fourth episode recorded a 20% rise in streams compared to the premiere, while the eighth episode saw a 76% increase in first-day views. The series has amassed over 45 million hours streamed globally across Hulu and Disney+.
Starring Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, and Ann Dowd, the show follows young women Agnes and Daisy in the oppressive regime of Gilead. The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss appeared as a guest in her role as June Osborn.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s Booker Prize-winning novel, the series is produced by MGM Television and 20th Television. The season finale is set for May 27 on Hulu and Disney+.
