Plot Overview
The series revolves around the suspicious death of Kathleen Peterson (Toni Collette), found at the bottom of the stairs in her North Carolina home in 2001. Her husband, crime writer Michael Peterson (Colin Firth), becomes the prime suspect. The prosecution argued he pushed her deliberately, while the defence maintained it was a tragic accident.
The drama not only adapts the 2004 French documentary of the same name but also dramatises the filmmakers' influence on Michael's life, exploring how the documentary crew impacted his legal battle and family dynamics.
