The BBC psychological thriller The Rapture stars India Amarteifio and Ruth Madeley, who appeared on The One Show to discuss their new series. The five-part drama is set during a heatwave in the Welsh countryside, but filming conditions were the opposite.
Speaking to Alex Jones and Vernon Kay, India said: "It was October and November in Wales. We were sat in shorts and a vest. We had heat packs galore everywhere."
"Some of the scenes that have come out, I'm so confused as to how it looks 40 degrees when I know it was raining on that scene."
Plot of The Rapture
An official synopsis reads: "After a life-altering car accident killed her husband and left her paralysed, psychologist Dr Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) starts a new job at a psychiatric hospital where she is assigned 17-year-old inmate Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio)."
"Two years before, Bethany was sectioned for the brutal murder of her mother, Carys Krall. The case shocked the nation, not least because Bethany’s father, Leonard Krall (Sam Hazeldine), is the charismatic leader of the Faith Way, a spiritual movement with millions of online followers."
As Bethany knows details about Gabs' private life, she reveals that she can see visions of the future, communicated through disturbing sketches. While Bethany's nurse insists her predictions always come true, Gabs is skeptical.
"As the heat intensifies, Gabs begins to notice unsettling connections between Bethany’s prophetic drawings and the world outside, forcing Gabs to re-examine her assumptions. Could Bethany be innocent after all? If she didn’t kill Carys Krall, who did and why?"
