The Golden Bachelor is returning for its second season, and ABC and Hulu have unveiled the 23 women who will vie for the heart of 66-year-old NFL veteran Mel Owens. The cast ranges from 58 to 77 years old, one more contestant than last year's group. Among the women are a luxury yacht sales rep, a former model, a retired biomedical engineer, a former bomb technician, a casino VIP host, and a state park employee.
Mel Owens enjoyed a successful nine-season NFL career as a linebacker for the LA Rams after being drafted ninth overall in 1981. Post-football, he worked as a financial adviser at Merrill Lynch and later obtained a law degree from UC-San Francisco, specialising in workers' compensation, sports law, and disability benefits. He succeeds Gerry Turner, who led the debut season to an average of 10.4 million viewers.
Season 2 premieres on 24 September on ABC and becomes available the following day on Hulu. The show is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon. Contestants include Alexandra, a Colombian luxury yacht sales rep and mother of three; Amy, a professional 'momager' to her internet-famous twin daughters; Andra, a retired federal government worker and twin sister of Sandra Mason from Season 1; Carla, a midlife influencer; and Carol, manager for baseball star Freddie Freeman.
