Channel 4 has confirmed that the 2021 crime thriller The Forgiven will take over the Sunday night slot previously occupied by repeats of Celebrity Gogglebox. The film, based on Lawrence Osborne's 2012 novel, will air on Sunday, July 26 at 10pm.

The movie stars Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain as David and Jo Henninger, a troubled married couple traveling to Morocco for a weekend party. The synopsis reveals: "While they're driving to the party of a wealthy friend, David accidentally hits and kills a local teenager. When the deceased's father turns up at the soirée asking for help, Jo and David are plunged into a bizarre and dark night of the soul."

The cast also includes Matt Smith (House of the Dragon) and Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out). The film has received high praise from viewers, with one IMDb user calling it "Oscar worthy" and adding: "It has been a long time since I saw such good acting, beautiful scenery and hilarious conversations." Another commented: "You won't forget this film five minutes after you've seen it. It will stay with you long after." A third described it as "absolutely brilliant" and "an unexpected pleasure, with locations that were sumptuous."
