The festive edition of The Chase, which aired on Christmas Eve, has generated a strong reaction from viewers, primarily due to the Chasers' unusual costumes. The episode featured comedian Lucy Porter, Countdown presenter Colin Murray, Strictly vocalist Tommy Blaize, and actor Asim Chaudhry taking on five Chasers dressed as traditional Christmas dinner components.
The Beast appeared as a Christmas pudding, the Vixen wore a Brussels sprout outfit, and the Menace was a pig in a blanket. Meanwhile, the Sinnerman transformed into a turkey, and the Governess donned a Christmas cracker costume. Host Bradley Walsh introduced Lucy Porter, who impressed by securing £10,000 in the cash builder round, a feat he described as "very, very rare."
ITV audiences were distracted by the costumes, particularly Darragh Ennis’s pig-in-blanket get-up. One viewer on X posted, "I'm going to need some recovery time after that," while another said, "Err......... ahem...... I'm speechless." A third commented, "Omg why is Darragh a pig in blanket. Hilarious." The Vixen's Brussels sprout costume also drew criticism, with one fan writing, "Sprouts are the most REVOLTING vegetable.... why @jenlion. Why? SOBS."
In the final chase, Lucy, Colin, and Tommy secured a prize pot of £16,000 after answering 14 questions correctly. Bradley Walsh noted, "We'll need some push backs and a lot of them," before Paul Sinha emerged in his turkey costume. Sinha caught the team with 57 seconds remaining, later commenting, "It was a great team... but I think the wheels came off a little bit with Asim's overconfidence."
Earlier in the week, another Christmas special featured the Chasers dressed as characters from The Addams Family, continuing the tradition of festive themed episodes.
