The Chase Christmas Special Leaves Fans 'Sobbing' Over Bizarre Chaser Costumes
The Chase Christmas special leaves fans emotional over costumes

Fans of the hit ITV quiz show The Chase were left emotional and bewildered after a Christmas special featured a hilarious and distracting wardrobe change for the show's formidable quiz experts.

Festive Outfits Steal the Show

The special episode, which aired on Christmas Eve, 24th December 2025, saw celebrity contestants comedian Lucy Porter, Countdown's Colin Murray, Strictly singer Tommy Blaize, and actor Asim Chaudhry take on all five Chasers. However, the quizmasters were almost unrecognisable, each dressed as a component of a traditional Christmas lunch.

The Beast appeared as a Christmas Pudding, the Vixen as Brussels sprouts, and the Menace as a Pig in Blanket. Meanwhile, the Sinnerman transformed into a Turkey and the Governess became a Christmas Cracker. The surreal sight, particularly Darragh Ennis's Pig in Blanket costume, quickly became the main talking point for viewers on social media.

Viewer Reaction: From Sobs to Speechlessness

Audiences took to X, formerly Twitter, to express their shock and amusement. One viewer wrote they would "need some recovery time", while another was left "speechless". A third posted, "Omg why is Darragh a pig in blanket. Hilarious," with others agreeing the outfits were "proper distracting".

The Vixen's sprout costume also provoked a strong reaction, with one fan lamenting, "Sprouts are the most REVOLTING vegetable.... why? SOBS."

A Competitive Final Chase Ends in Defeat

Despite the distractions, the celebrity team of Lucy, Colin, and Tommy made it to the Final Chase, playing for a prize pot of £16,000. They set a target of 14 correct answers, which host Bradley Walsh noted would require "some push backs and a lot of them".

Facing them was Paul Sinha, the Sinnerman, in his full turkey regalia. Reflecting on the team's potential, Sinha said, "It was a great team, and on paper, it looked like a superb team that were going to score highly. But I think the wheels came off a little bit with Asim's overconfidence."

Paul Sinha was in formidable form, catching the contestants with a whopping 57 seconds still remaining on the clock, denying them the Christmas cash.

This was the second festive special that week, following another where the Chasers dressed as characters from The Addams Family. The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm.
