After a wait of more than three years, one of television's most cherished comedy-dramas is finally set to return. Ted Lasso comes back to Apple TV+ on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, restoring the warmth, humour and emotion that transformed the programme into a global sensation when it first launched.
Long-Awaited Comeback
The comeback has been a considerable time in the making. When the third series concluded in 2023, it was widely believed to mark the show's final instalment. It wasn't until last year that Apple confirmed AFC Richmond would be gracing our screens once more - an announcement that prompted considerable relief and enthusiasm from supporters worldwide.
This fourth series therefore feels somewhat like an unexpected gift. Unforeseen, certainly, but all the more appreciated because of it. The programme's return carries a real sense of significance, and judging by the growing anticipation online, viewers are very much prepared to Believe once more.
New Focus on Women's Team
That said, Series 4 will appear noticeably different from previous instalments. A number of recognisable faces from the changing room will not be making a comeback, as the new series pivots its attention away from the AFC Richmond men's squad and instead shines the spotlight on the club's women's team. Ted, Beard, Rebecca, Roy Kent and Keeley will all feature, however.
Free Trial and Subscription Details
If you've been absent from Apple TV+ for some time and your subscription has expired, there's encouraging news. Apple has introduced a seven-day free trial, offering you the opportunity to revisit all three earlier series before embarking on the new one - all without paying a penny initially.
Once the trial period concludes, the standard Apple TV+ subscription charge of £9.99 per month will kick in. With Ted Lasso Season 4 anticipated to span ten episodes, watching that opening episode or two during your trial effectively means you're securing a ten per cent discount on the complete series. It remains unclear how long this promotion will stay live, so it's advisable to register sooner rather than later.
Other Streaming Options
There are, naturally, numerous other TV streaming platforms available across the UK. One of the most established and widely-used is NOW (previously NOW TV). At present, NOW also has its own substantial summer promotion. Rather than paying £13.99 per month, new subscribers to the service can secure six months of TV for only £3.99 per month (minimum of six months). And here, you can access all manner of blockbuster hits such as Sinners, They Will Kill You, House of the Dragon and much more besides.
Alternatively, there's Amazon. A Prime membership also grants TV enthusiasts entry to the vast array of programmes, including Fallout, The Boys, Invincible, Reacher, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and considerably more. This, naturally, comes with access to Amazon Prime delivery priority, alongside access to Amazon Music. That said, these TV services do not provide access to Ted Lasso.
Fan Reactions and Catch-Up
And, given the sheer number of unanswered questions in the series (such as who Keeley will ultimately end up with, whether Ted loves Rebecca, and if Beard is genuinely married), now is your final opportunity to catch up before its release this week.
"There are so many things to watch and the quality is exceptional. At the end of the day I think I will just keep Apple TV as my main streaming service", said one Apple TV+ customer on TrustPilot. Another said: "There are no commercials and everything they make is so worth seeing." While another streamer said: "Loving Apple TV and all it's content. The app is really user friendly and reasonably priced."
It is worth noting, however, that some users have flagged occasional performance issues: "Apple TV has a few good shows such as Slow Horses and Severance but the weekly drop and inadequate User Interface are off-putting. I'm currently on Silo Episode 3 and, after an absence, wish to start again at Ep 1 but there's no way to do this."
