Susanna Reid's Extended GMB Break & ITV Shake-Up: Who's Leaving?
Susanna Reid's GMB break and ITV schedule changes revealed

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has confirmed she is taking a lengthy break from the ITV breakfast show, revealing which colleague she will miss the most during her time away.

Susanna's Farewell and ITV's Scheduling Overhaul

The 55-year-old host, who usually appears alongside Richard Madeley, told viewers she was 'saying goodbye for Christmas' and would see them next year. She later clarified on Instagram that her return to screens is scheduled for 2026. In a heartfelt post, she shared a selfie with make-up artist Heather King, writing: 'My amazing make up artist and friend. Going to miss you.'

This personal news comes amidst a significant shake-up of ITV's daytime programming, set to take effect in the New Year. The changes are wide-ranging:

  • Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes each day.
  • Lorraine will move to a 30-week schedule, with episodes cut to just half an hour from 9:30am to 10am.
  • Loose Women will remain in its 12:30pm slot but will also adopt a reduced 30-week 'seasonal' schedule.
  • This Morning will continue to air for two-and-a-half hours from 10am.

Presenters Step Down Amid Changes

The schedule shift has already prompted departures. Daily Mail columnist and GB News presenter Andrew Pierce announced he is stepping down from Good Morning Britain after a decade. He cited the new schedules conflicting with his GB News show as the reason for his exit.

Furthermore, the Loose Women panel, though confirmed to be returning with its familiar faces, is losing a beloved behind-the-scenes figure. Comedian and warm-up act Lee Peart confirmed his final show is just weeks away, marking a 'bittersweet end of an era' after being part of the show since 2017.

What the Future Holds for ITV Daytime

An ITV spokesperson has moved to reassure fans regarding Loose Women, stating: 'We always said we valued the Loose Women and that we wouldn’t be changing the panel, so viewers can look forward to seeing the familiar line up in the New Year.' The cost-saving measures are instead expected to focus on merging production teams.

The current lineup includes presenters Kaye Adams, Ruth Langsford, Christine Lampard, and Charlene White, alongside a large roster of regular panelists. While the on-screen talent appears secure for now, the reduction in annual episodes signifies a major strategic shift for ITV's flagship daytime shows.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
