ITVX has released all eight episodes of Australian comedy crime drama Sunny Nights, a light-hearted alternative for Death in Paradise fans awaiting the BBC show's Christmas special.
What Is Sunny Nights About?
The series follows American brother-sister duo Martin and Vicki Marvin, played by Will Forte and D'Arcy Carden, who move to Sydney, Australia, to start their spray tan business 'Tansform'. Instead of focusing on their business, they become trapped in an accidental blackmail plot with Sydney's criminal underworld.
While it lacks the 'whodunnit' element of Death in Paradise, Sunny Nights offers a light-hearted crime story set against a stunning Australian backdrop, rather than the Caribbean.
Fan Reactions and Cast
Fans have praised the show on IMDb. One wrote: "Story was fantastic…I really enjoyed it and watched all 8 episodes over three nights. I hope it gets picked up for season two." Another commented: "This show is really fun and addicting. The writing is smart, the jokes hit, the production value is great and the acting blew me away."
A third viewer remarked: "After all the twists and turns in this story, I'm literally on the edge of my seat." Another noted it had "wisps of Breaking Bad notes in how the dark comedy underlies and inspires the crime story".
The cast also includes Arrow actress Jessica De Gouw, Hunt for the Wilderpeople's Rachel House, and former Australian rugby league player Willie Mason.
Sunny Nights first aired on Boxing Day 2025 in Australia and landed on Hulu in March, before its UK debut on ITVX today.
