Noel and Sue Radford, stars of Channel 5's '22 Kids and Counting', have revealed an 'emotional clash' after Noel decided to meet his birth mother for the first time. The couple, who live in a 10-bedroom house in Morecambe with their 22 children and 14 grandchildren, have differing views on seeking out biological family.
Noel, 54, was adopted at 10 days old and recently met his birth mother with the help of an adoption expert. He described the reunion as 'emotional', spending a couple of hours with her, but said he does not wish to pursue a relationship. 'I'm glad to have met her, but that's it,' he told Closer Magazine, adding that his adoptive parents are his true family.
Sue, 50, who was also adopted, has no desire to find her birth parents. She explained: 'For me, my mum and dad are my mum and dad. I never want to meet my birth mum, and after losing Alfie, it made me more determined.' The couple lost their son Alfie, who was stillborn in 2014.
Noel acknowledged their 'very different views' on the matter, calling it an 'emotional clash rather than horrible'. He added that he fully respects Sue's decision. The new series of '22 Kids and Counting' airs on Channel 5 on Sunday, July 20, at 8pm.
