Strictly Come Dancing star Vito Coppola appeared to declare his 'love' for partner Ellie Leach in a hidden microphone clip released by the BBC, though it was delivered in character during their Musicals week routine.
The professional dancer and former Coronation Street actress performed a Beauty and the Beast-themed routine, with Vito playing Gaston. In the hidden mic footage, Vito can be heard saying to an extra dancer: 'Ahh, look at her! That's my girl!' before adding: 'I want her! Ohh, I'm in love with her.' He also asks for a kiss in character.
The couple scored 36 out of 40 for the performance, which was praised by judges Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas. Du Beke called Ellie the 'Belle of the ball', while Ballas described the routine as 'off the charts'. They finished second behind Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin.
Online dating expert Louella Alderson commented that the chemistry between Ellie and Vito could help them win the competition, saying: 'Their strong rapport and chemistry can potentially earn them votes from viewers who are drawn to their partnership.'
The pair have now reached the semi-final of the BBC show, with speculation continuing about their off-screen relationship.
