Vicky Skinner, wife of Strictly Come Dancing star Tom Skinner, has been left utterly devastated after their much-anticipated family holiday to Mexico was cancelled at the last minute. The couple, who share two young children, had been eagerly counting down to their sun-soaked getaway.
The holiday plans were abruptly shelved due to the overwhelming demands of Tom's rigorous Strictly Come Dancing training schedule. The former footballer-turned-television-personality has been pouring every ounce of his energy into mastering the complex dance routines, leaving no room for international travel.
A Dream Holiday Dashed
"We were supposed to be flying to Mexico, but we've had to cancel it," a disappointed Vicky revealed. "It's just impossible with the Strictly schedule. Tom is training constantly, and there's simply no time for a proper break."
The family had been looking forward to creating precious memories together, far from the British autumn weather and the intense pressure of the BBC dance competition. Vicky confessed she was "so upset" about the cancellation, having envisioned quality family time away from the spotlight.
The Strictly Sacrifice
Tom Skinner, known for his appearances on The Apprentice and as a regular on The Martin Lewis Money Show, is currently partnered with professional dancer Dianne Buswell. The pair have been working tirelessly to impress both the judges and the public vote each week.
"The commitment required for Strictly is all-consuming," an insider close to the show explained. "Contestants often have to make significant personal sacrifices - cancelled holidays, missed family events, and immense physical exhaustion are all part of the package."
Family Support Amid Disappointment
Despite her disappointment, Vicky remains Tom's biggest supporter. She has been regularly attending live shows to cheer him on from the audience, often bringing their children along to watch their father dance.
"Of course it's heartbreaking to cancel a holiday we were all excited about," Vicky admitted. "But seeing Tom pursue his dream on that dance floor makes it worthwhile. We'll reschedule for when the glitterball dust has settled!"
The Skinner family's experience highlights the often-unseen personal costs behind the glamour of prime-time television competitions, where celebrity dreams come at the price of family plans and personal time.
