Strictly fans: 'They haven't listened' over presenting roles

Strictly Come Dancing fans have said 'they haven't listened' as they continue to call for a change to the new presenting trio's roles.

On Saturday night (October 3), Emma Willis, comedian Josh Widdicombe and former professional dancer Johannes Radebe took on their third episode as the hosts of the BBC dancing competition. They were picked to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Movie week opening

Similarly to the first live show last week, the trio began the night by coming out to the dancefloor together following the pros' routine. Emma said: "Hello and welcome to Strictly Come Dancing and for the first theme of the movie it is movie week."

Josh stated after Johannes praised the pros for their routine: "It's going to be a blockbuster night, so get comfy as our couples perform routines from some of the most iconic films ever made."

Presenting roles and stunts

As was the case with the other live show, Emma and Josh took on Tess' role of introducing the acts and helping the contestants navigate the judges comments. Johannes continued to rest up in the 'Clauditorium', where he exchanged small talks with the acts as the judges determined their scores.

Josh took on two stunts early into the episode. Prior to football content creator John Nellis and Katya Jones Titanic inspired routine, he appeared at the top of the stars. Joined by Shirley Ballas they recreated the iconic 'I'm the king of the world' scene from the classic Leonardo DiCaprio film.

Later on, Josh took on an even bigger stunt. Moments before Dame Sarah Storey and Julian Caillon danced the Charleston to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins, Josh was lifted into the air by an umbrella with a harness on it.

Fan reactions

Lots of eyes were on the comments from fans once again this week. Following the first live show, some suggested on social media that it 'doesn't work' with three people, with only two having ever hosted the beloved programme before.

Many called for Johannes and Josh to try switching roles, which would see the latter move upstairs where it would potentially be easier to engage in non-scripted banter with the contestants.

With this not happening, lots of Strictly fans took to X, previously known as Twitter, to air their frustrations while Movie Week was going on.

@superTV247 said: "THEY'RE NOT SWITCHING PRESENTING ROLES? Oh good grief. Josh NEEDS to be upstairs!!! They lied to us #Strictly." @MCJPeel added: "Why are the BBC bosses still having Josh present #Strictly downstairs with Emma and not upstairs?"

@SarahFreer wrote: "Josh really needs to not be downstairs with Emma. I feel like she's stood there most the time whilst Josh tries to get a joke in after every section." @holtzybxby stated: "I see #strictly has completely ignored us all begging last week for them to let Emma do the downstairs segment by herself."

@BevMaccas commented: "Josh is downstairs. They haven't listened #Strictly." @susepats posted: "Josh is much better this week but it feels like Emma's had to dim her shine to make that happen. Think they just don't need two downstairs. #strictly."
