The BBC favourite has returned, and following weeks of build-up, the celebrities have finally taken to the dance floor for the first time as they begin their journey towards the Glitterball Trophy. However, while fans were eager to watch this year's contestants perform their debut routines alongside their professional partners, another element swiftly diverted their focus.
Fans divided over new titles
The programme launched with a striking new opening sequence featuring drone camera footage gliding from room to room, capturing the celebrities in training before tracking them as they entered the studio in one seamless shot. The unconventional introduction left certain viewers feeling 'dizzy', with numerous people taking to social media to question the decision to alter the programme's traditional opening.

New presenters and judges return
This evening, the 2026 dancing couples have had their inaugural opportunity to impress both the judges and the Strictly audience, with a varied selection of dances and musical numbers scheduled for the opening night. A significant shake-up at the top of the show has also taken place this series, with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and professional dancer Johannes Radebe all making their Strictly presenting debuts.
The new trio have stepped into the roles previously held by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the much-loved duo who fronted the BBC programme together for many years. Meanwhile, the judging panel remains unchanged, with Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all returning to deliver their verdicts on the celebrities' maiden performances.
No elimination this week
There will be no elimination during tonight's programme, meaning all 15 couples are guaranteed a place in next week's show. However, the judges' scores will be carried over, with viewers then getting their first opportunity to cast their votes for their favourite couples.
