Fans of Stranger Things are convinced that Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) may meet her end in the final season after the release of the official trailer for season five, part two. The trailer shows Robin walking down a hospital corridor flanked by two armed men as a Demogorgon charges towards them, with the camera focusing on the creature as it lunges.
Viewers took to YouTube to highlight the moment at the 1:18 mark, with many expressing fear for the character. @Kaiiizerrrp commented: “1:18 omg, did you see Robin behind the military?” while @Obama_Plays added: “Omg Robin please runnn.” Others shared their certainty that this is the sad death the Duffer brothers have teased.
This is not the first time fans have predicted Robin’s demise. Earlier promotional photos for the final season showed cast members staring at an unseen threat, but Robin was noticeably absent, sparking concern. The episode title, “Shock Jock,” also references Robin’s role hosting a radio show for The Squawk, which she used as a decoy to relay information about military operations.
On Reddit, fans argued that Robin’s emotional speech in volume one of season five felt like foreshadowing. User MedievZ said: “Robin is the perfect character to die and get maximum emotional impact while fitting into the story nicely and being an unexpected gutpunch.” Other trailer moments include Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) asking Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) for help, and Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Steve (Joe Keery) making a pact: “You die, I die.”
Regardless of her fate, Robin lives on in a new Stranger Things novel, One Way or Another, which follows Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) and Robin solving an unexplained phenomenon two months after the season four earthquake. Stranger Things season 5 part 2 airs on Christmas Day in the US and Boxing Day in the UK.
