Netflix Quashes Stranger Things Secret Episode Rumours

Netflix has poured cold water on fan theories that a secret episode of Stranger Things was yet to be released, confirming that all episodes of the hit sci-fi series are now available. The streaming platform updated its social media bios to state: “ALL EPISODES OF STRANGER THINGS ARE NOW PLAYING.”

The so-called ‘Conformity Gate’ theory had gained traction online, suggesting that the time jump in the series finale was an illusion created by the villain Vecna, and that an additional episode would appear on 7 January. However, a cryptic Netflix post teasing “Your Future is on its way” was revealed to be a promotional campaign for its 2026 slate, not a secret instalment.

Fans have reacted with a mix of disappointment and defiance. One wrote on X: “I hate that ‘Conformity Gate’ is not real… I want the Duffers to reconsider their finale.” Others embraced the theory as a way to extend the series’ life, while some criticised those who believed in it as “deluded sausages”. Not all were unhappy, with one viewer praising the finale as “a perfect ending”.

Although the main series has concluded, Netflix will release One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 on 12 January, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the final season. An animated spin-off, Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, is also set for 2026. The Duffer Brothers have teased a further spin-off, describing it as “an entirely new mythology” that will answer lingering questions.
