Stephen Mulhern is heading to Australia with Ant and Dec for the launch of the new series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! The 49-year-old Catchphrase star will appear as a guest on the spin-off show I'm A Celeb Unpacked, alongside former campmate GK Barry.
Guest Appearance on Spin-Off Show
The programme, hosted by Kemi Rodgers and Sam Thompson after Joel Dommett quit as main host this year, airs directly after the main show on ITV. Ant and Dec will once again present the main series.
A source teased the possibility of Stephen later joining the main show as a campmate, saying: "The crew are so excited that Stephen will be taking part in the show for the first time, he's great mates with Ant and Dec so there is likely to be some crossover."
Rolling Rota of Guests
The source added: "If it goes well there are hopes that he could also appear as a contestant one day." They told The Sun that there will be a "rolling rota" of famous faces on the spin-off, saying: "GK will also be heading out, which will fun. Guests spend around five days on the show; we have a rolling rota of guests throughout the three-week run."
The Mirror has contacted ITV for comment.
Personal Challenges Behind the Scenes
Stephen has faced personal difficulties off screen. In November 2024, his father Christopher died at the age of 76. Stephen developed an interest in comedy and magic from his dad, who taught him tricks as a child.
During an appearance on his ITV show The Accidental Tourist in 2025, Stephen spoke about his bond with his father, saying: "If I were to tell my dad this... my dad passed away at the start of the year." He paused, apologising with "Sorry," before adding, "[My dad] wouldn't believe it. I hope he would be proud."
Weeks after his father's death, Stephen reportedly collapsed at a Pizza Express and was taken to hospital, suspected of having an adverse reaction to medication, made worse after consuming alcohol. He had also undergone a procedure earlier that day requiring anaesthesia. A source told The Mirror at the time: "Stephen has had an incredibly tough time over the past few weeks. His beloved father recently passed away, which has hit him hard and has been understandably very stressful."
