The trailer for Slow Horses season six confirms Olivia Cooke's return as Sid, four seasons after her apparent death. The Apple TV series returns in September, with the first look showing the team of disgraced spies under attack.
Trailer reveals deadly threats
In the trailer, Gary Oldman's Jackson Lamb sneaks into Diana Taverner's garden and asks, 'Do you know anything about why my Slow Horses keep turning up dead?' The footage shows one spy shoved from a canal boat and another locked in a flaming shipping container. Moira, played by Joanna Scanlan, is sprayed in the face with an unknown substance by figures in gas masks.
A list of all past and present Slough House employees is revealed, effectively a kill list. The team also seeks out Louisa, played by Rosalind Eleazar, to warn her after she quit MI5 the previous season. The Slow Horses are sent to a safe house and told to stay off their phones, though Roddy immediately breaks the rule. Lamb declares it 'a bloodbath!'
Sid's return and implications
River's father, played by Hugo Weaving, is back in the picture, suggesting possible involvement. Lamb tells Catherine, played by Saskia Reeves, 'We're spies. We've all faked our death at one time or another.' River then climbs stairs to find Sid, clad in a heavy coat, waiting for him.
Cooke's Sid Baker was a standout in season one, with Taverner calling her the 'most capable' of the Slow Horses. Her return could reignite the romantic tension with River, who also had chemistry with Louisa, also returning this season.
Premiere date and source material
Slow Horses season six premieres on Wednesday, September 16, with the first episode, followed by one episode weekly until October 21. The season adapts the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron's Slough House series.
