Sky News correspondent Shingi Mararike has been praised for his professionalism after his live broadcast from Middlesbrough was disrupted by members of the public shouting in the background.
Mararike, the North of England correspondent, was delivering a live segment when voices were heard interrupting. He briefly addressed the disturbance before cutting the broadcast short. The clip later circulated online, with many viewers commending his calm reaction.
Coverage of the A66 crash inquest
The report was providing updates on the A66 crash, amid an ongoing inquest into the accident. Two police officers and five men were killed in the early hours of Saturday morning when a vehicle travelling the wrong way collided with the car the officers were in.
Tributes have been paid to PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough, who died in the collision. The five individuals who died in the other vehicle have been named as Michael Robert Cahill, 23, Jakub Matusiak, 23, Makai Saddington, 18, and 17-year-olds Theo Rae and Cole Robert Worthy.
Broadcast cut short after heckling
Investigations into the collision remain ongoing, with inquests commencing earlier this week. During the live broadcast, Mararike paused and said: "We're going to have to stop this broadcast now as there is someone behind me. We'll try and continue now, just holding off as we are being accosted by members of the public."
He attempted to continue with developments regarding the inquest, but the heckling persisted. He then stated: "We'll have to stop, and perhaps you'll have to come back to us later. Apologies about that."

Viewers expressed fury over the "embarrassing" interruption, while several took to social media to praise Mararike's reaction. One person wrote: "Shingi stayed calm, he is an excellent reporter."
Several people branded the gatecrashers as "scumbags". "Embarrassed to be from Middlesbrough right now," one person said. Someone else fumed: "Embarrassing. So so embarrassing," as one person wrote: "Absolutely disgusting behaviour."
