Sir Tom Jones returns for new series of The Voice UK on ITV
Sir Tom Jones returns to The Voice UK on ITV

ITV has confirmed that Sir Tom Jones will return for the upcoming series of The Voice UK. The broadcaster also unveiled a first look at the new series, which returns after a year-long hiatus.

Joining Sir Tom on the coaching panel are Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, and will.i.am, with Kelly Rowland taking her place on the show for the first time. Emma Willis, the new Strictly Come Dancing host, will resume her presenting duties, with ITV revealing she'll be "steering the show through every emotional high note, electrifying performance, and dramatic chair turn".

New 'Rewind' button introduced

The channel has announced a 'game-changing' development with the introduction of a 'Rewind' button. During the Blind Auditions, one coach will now have the opportunity to reconsider their decision regarding a performer who has left the stage without securing a single chair turn.

ITV continued to reveal: "If a coach realises they have made a mistake, they can hit Rewind, bring the act back, and offer them a place on their team. However, with only one Rewind available to each coach, they must choose their moment wisely. For an act who thought their journey was over, it could change everything..."

Kelly Rowland replaces LeAnn Rimes

Kelly's appointment as a coach on The Voice UK was announced last year, taking over from LeAnn Rimes, who departed after a single series. The ITV talent competition has previously featured Olly Murs and Anne-Marie amongst its coaching panel.

Sir Tom has previously spoken about his love for working on The Voice UK, as he addressed his future on the show. In an interview on The One Show in 2024, he declared, "It's the perfect job."

Sir Tom's passion for the show

The legendary singer continued: "I like listening to new voices, and hopefully I can give some advice." He went on: "So it's the perfect job for me - well, it's not really a job - it's something that I love to do."

"I still feel the same way now because this is the 13th series, so I still feel the same way now as I did when we started because you get new voices all the time, new people coming on."

Previous departure and return

Sir Tom returned to The Voice UK after being dropped for its fifth series and replaced by Boy George. The show had originally aired on the BBC before moving to ITV from its sixth series, when Sir Tom returned.

Sir Tom later said: "I wasn't really upset with the BBC. But whoever was responsible made a mistake." He went on to discuss the importance of musicians believing in themselves amid the "knockbacks" they face. He said: "There's a knockback right there, at my time of life, to prove to these young singers coming on the show that even I got a knockback, after all that time."

"Then you've got to think - it's their loss. I knew what the public felt because of the feedback I had."

The Voice UK is coming soon to ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
