Bruno Tonioli has left Britain's Got Talent after just two years and three seasons on the panel, with the ITV show returning for its 19th series on Saturday night without him. The former Strictly Come Dancing judge, 70, cited scheduling clashes with his role on America's Dancing With The Stars as the primary reason for his departure.
Tonioli, who replaced David Walliams in 2023, said in a statement: 'After three incredible series, I’ve sadly had to walk away from a job which has opened my eyes to so much incredible talent and step down as a judge on BGT.' He added that he would miss 'the chaos and joy' of the show but needed to focus on filming Dancing With The Stars in the US.
The Italian-born star had previously spoken to the Daily Mail about the strain of constant transatlantic travel, saying: 'There is no animosity, it was a mutual decision... I just couldn’t do the flying anymore. I don’t know how I survived that schedule. To be honest, it’s a miracle.'
Tonioli's exit has been filled by YouTube star and rapper KSI, real name Olajide Olatunji, 32, who served as a guest judge during the 2025 season. KSI expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating: 'I’m so grateful and happy to be a part of Britain’s Got Talent team for another season... I can’t wait to make this the most entertaining BGT season ever.'
Head judge Simon Cowell, 66, reportedly supported Tonioli's decision and consulted his 12-year-old son Eric before appointing KSI. A source told The Sun: 'Simon’s been friends with Bruno for over 35 years and loved working with him on BGT. It was really tough knowing he had to let Bruno go.'
