Shona Platt is set for a shocking discovery on Coronation Street when she tracks down her estranged father, only to find him in a psychiatric hospital. The reunion takes an unexpected turn after her sister Jodie Ramsey tried to prevent her from finding him.
Jodie, who recently moved in with Shona and David Platt, was clearly opposed when Shona expressed a desire to visit their father. Acting suspiciously, Jodie contacted an old friend of their father's named Bernard, asking for a favour. Her cagey behaviour convinced Shona that her sister was hiding something.
Following Jodie to a psychiatric hospital, Shona was stunned to learn that their father is a patient there. A tearful Jodie introduced their confused, estranged father, explaining how she was left to care for him after their mother fled the family home.
The revelation comes amid a strained relationship between the sisters, defined by their troubled childhood. Shona left their toxic father and enabling mother when she was young, leaving Jodie behind – an act Jodie has long viewed as abandonment. Now, confronted with the full extent of her father's condition, Shona assures Jodie she is part of the family.
Actress Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie, said her character harbours 'total resentment' towards Shona, blaming her for the life Jodie never had. With secrets still to unravel, the Platt household is bracing for further drama as Jodie's true motives come to light.
