The Great British Sewing Bee saw another contestant leave the competition during its latest episode on Tuesday, August 4. Lewis was eliminated after failing to impress the judges in the Mexico-themed challenges.
Mexico Week Challenges
Host Sophie Willan was joined by judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant, along with special guest judge Erika Alvarez, a renowned fashion designer known for blending traditional Mexican textiles with contemporary design.
The sewers first tackled a pattern challenge to create a folkloric top using fabrics from indigenous communities in Mexico's Oaxaca region. They then transformed a tablecloth into a structured garment, and finally designed a made-to-measure outfit inspired by Mexican festivals.
Lewis's Farewell
While Heather impressed the judges and earned garment of the week, Lewis was sadly sent home. Sophie told him: "You've been fabulous, and we'll all miss you a lot. You've been brilliant."
Lewis gave firm handshakes to his co-stars and hugged the judges before saying: "I think it was absolutely, you know, my time to go. Coming on here has been a really good way to show that you can do something completely out of your comfort zone and learn lots, and have a fun time."
Esme's Admission
Esme shared her sadness, saying: "I'll miss Lewis just because there's something really hilarious about him." She then whispered something in his ear, asking: "Can I ask you something?" Lewis burst into laughter and replied: "Do I dye...? No, I don't dye my hair!"
