Sewing Bee judge cries over Anna's best creation ever

Patrick Grant became emotional during the latest episode of The Great British Sewing Bee, praising contestant Anna's creation as one of the best ever seen on the show.

Emotional reaction to Anna's garment

During Reduce, Reuse, Recycle week, Anna won the Transformation Challenge and was awarded garment of the week. In a cutaway, Grant said: "Minnie's and Beth's Made to Measures were fantastic. But Anna took the whole thing to a completely different level."

Fighting back tears, he added: "I cannot remember where I've seen something so extraordinarily beautiful and so incredibly well thought through-" He continued: "I'm genuinely moved to tears by how wonderful it was. It is one of the best things we've ever seen in Sewing Bee."

Anna's reaction and contestant exit

Anna said of the achievement: "I almost don't know what to say, it's just like, so many lovely comments. I'm, yeah, gobsmacked. I think I'm going to try and stay zen and take some breaths. Yeah, it's just been nice to actually enjoy it a bit more, so I'm going to try and take that attitude into next week."

The episode also saw Angie become the latest contestant to leave the competition.

Judges praise this year's talent

Speaking on This Morning, Grant said this year's talent is among the best they've seen: "Some of the stuff they create is absolutely extraordinary, there's been some incredible moments. But yes, there is some real, real talent. Somebody this year, I think, is the best person we've ever seen."

Next week, the show will celebrate the fashion and textile traditions of Mexico, with guest judge Erika Alvarez joining the panel. The Great British Sewing Bee continues Tuesdays on BBC One at 8pm.
